imperial emperor

Imperial Emperor is an enormously exciting four-year-old son of the super sire Dubawi who we recently sourced at the Racing In Dubai Sale and will be based with UAE Champion Trainer Bhupat Seemar! Bred by Godolphin and trained by Charlie Appleby up to this point of his career, Imperial Emperor has demonstrated talent from day one and still retains star potential.

He was installed as second favourite for last year’s Derby after making an impressive winning debut over 1m at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile course on his only outing as a two-year-old and made a winning comeback on the July Course at three, having been given time to develop in the early part of last season. He performed creditably in two more British starts last year, notably the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Stakes, before shipping to Dubai for the winter.

Making his debut in the Emirates in a hotly contested 1m1f turf handicap in January, Imperial Emperor travelled strongly in the slipstream of the leaders and quickened to the front inside the final quarter of a mile. He finished a highly creditable third in the hands of dual UAE Champion Jockey Richard Mullen.

Not only does Imperial Emperor hail from a family right out of the top drawer, but he is also bred to improve with age. He is a full-brother to the Listed-placed First Ruler and out of the top-class racemare Zhukova, who won the Gr.1 Man O’War Stakes for Dermot Weld by six-lengths as a five-year-old. Zhukova is in turn a half-sister to the four-time Gr.1 winner and outstanding champion Ghaiyyath (by Dubawi), who also reached his peak at the age of five, and out of Nightime, who gave Galileo his first Classic winner as sire when winning the Gr.1 Irish 1,000 Guineas in 2006.

With just six starts under his belt, Imperial Emperor is sure to carry on developing as he gains more experience and continues to mature physically. He has proven his effectiveness from 1m to 1m2f already and has the potential to stay a little further, while a switch from turf to dirt isn’t expected to pose any problems if desired.

The prizemoney on offer in Dubai is second to none and he couldn’t be in any better hands, as Bhupat Seemar currently sits second in the standings for the 23/24 season and has every chance of adding another title to the one he earned during the 2021/22 campaign.
