Dream Ahead ex She Mystifies

This smashing yearling colt by Dream Ahead is to be trained by James Owen in Newmarket and has future winner written all over him.

His trainer has only held a full licence since early last year, yet has already trained nearly 50 jumps winners at a terrific strike-rate, enjoying Gr.2 juvenile hurdle success at Cheltenham with Burdett Road. Thirty-four winners and counting are on the board in James’s maiden season on the Flat, and the entire yard is firmly on an upward trajectory.

Foaled in April of last year, this colt’s unraced dam She Mystifies has previously produced the two-time British winners Bobby Shaft, Amnaa, and Magicdollar, plus another winner in Hungary. Her potency as a producer is easily explained by a glance at her pedigree, as she is a half-sister to the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, Gr.1 Flying Five Stakes, and Gr.1 Prix de l’Abbaye heroine Glass Slippers.  

Crucially, Glass Slippers is a daughter of Dream Ahead, which highlights the five-time Gr.1 winner’s compatibility with this family. 

Trained by David Simcock for Khalifa Dasmal, Dream Ahead won the Gr.1 Prix Morny and Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes as a juvenile, ending the year with the same official rating as Frankel, and went on to lift the Gr.1 July Cup, Gr.1 Sprint Cup, and Gr.1 Prix de la Foret the following year. 

He has proven to be an ultra-reliable option at lower to mid-range prices since joining the stallion ranks 12 years ago, with his other high-profile progeny including the dual Gr.1-winning sprinter Dream Of Dreams, the Gr.1 Prix Jacques le Marois winner and sire Al Wukair, and the Gr.1 British Champions Sprint winner and sire Donjuan Triumphant.
